El Espacio Fundación Telefónica es un “espacio” en madrid que surge de la voluntad de la Fundación Telefónica de incrementar la difusión del conocimiento y promover exposiciones, encuentros y actividades que conecten la innovación, la creatividad y la tecnología con la sociedad. Cuenta con 6.000 m² para exposiciones, conciertos, eventos, actividades y talleres repartidos en cuatro salas de exposiciones, aulas para talleres y un auditorio de 200 plazas.

In 2012, the Moneo Brock studio in collaboration with Quanto Arquitectura undertook the comprehensive refurbishment. The historic nature of the building and the opaque relationships between the spaces designated to house the Foundation inspired the main objective of the project: to create a central, open space connecting the exhibition halls with each other and with the street.
To achieve this, a large helical staircase is planned around an organic “sculpture” that is both a supporting structure for the staircase itself and a reinforcing structure for the façade.

Who decides what we see, and how we see it? What is to look, what is to see? How do technological changes influence the way we perceive the world?  As part of the seminar and the cycle The Electric Gaze, with which Cineteca Madrid explores the ways in which science, cinema and technology mediate and represent the imaginaries of the gaze, Fundación Telefónica hosts the virtual reality experience ManicVR from February 19 to 24. A work developed by Kalina Bertin, in collaboration with Sandra Rodríguez, a specialist in the development of interactive documentary experiences, with the advice of a team of psychologists and produced by Eye Steelfilm, which portrays the chaotic and exuberant universe of an imagination haunted by bipolar disorder.
